The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc.’s HearTOGETHER Podcast Returns with New Host, Khadija Mbowe

October 04, 2022
New Episodes Available Beginning October 7

(Philadelphia, October 4, 2022)—The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc., are proud to present the third season of HearTOGETHER, a monthly podcast featuring artists and activists who discuss music, social justice, and the lived experiences that inform the drive to create a more equitable and inclusive future for the arts. Beginning this season, social-cultural content creator, performer, and classically trained soprano Khadija Mbowe will take over as host of the series.

Gambian-Canadian-American performer Khadija Mbowe is an advocate for equity and inclusion in all aspects of the performing arts. Their passion for singing and conviction for being a voice of representation is matched by their pursuit for continuous development in the performing arts. In addition to being a charismatic and dynamic singer, Khadija has cultivated an online community of over 500K subscribers to their YouTube channel.

Season three of HearTOGETHER will begin with a special episode introducing Khadija Mbowe, led by previous host Tori Marchiony. Available October 7, the discussion will focus on Khadija’s experiences with race, gender, opera, music, and much more. Additional season three guests include Philadelphia-raised soprano Karen Slack, winner of the 2022 Sphinx Medal of Excellence; Tailinh Agoyo, director of the Indigenous arts and culture organization We Are the Seeds; and Brooklyn-based trans composer and performer Theo Baer (aka iT Boy). Additional guests to be announced.

New episodes will be released monthly on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and more, as well as at www.philorch.org/heartogether.

HearTOGETHER is supported by lead corporate sponsor Accordant Advisors. Additional major support has been provided by the Otto Haas Charitable Trust.
