Holly Matthews joined The Philadelphia Orchestra as a librarian in February 2023. Born in Indiana, she grew up playing piano and bass clarinet. After moving to Pennsylvania, she graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Music and went on to complete a Master of Library and Information Science from Pittsburgh University.
After completing three years as an intern and fellow in the Philadelphia Orchestra Library, Ms. Matthews began as orchestra librarian for the Curtis Institute in 2009. In 2017 she joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as assistant principal librarian. She has also held positions as a public library director, academic librarian, adjunct professor, and private librarian.
While not in the library, Ms. Matthews enjoys reading, watching adorable cat videos on Instagram, spending time with friends and family, and watching The Office on loop.
