Witness to History

Yannick’s Living Legacy

02:57

Yannick is only the eighth music director in The Philadelphia Orchestra’s 125-year history, and his imprint on the Orchestra’s sound and reputation is cemented in his passion, artistry, and visionary leadership.

He brings the famed “Philadelphia Sound” to a wide range of orchestral music, including well-known masterpieces, works by contemporary voices, vocal repertoire and opera, and pieces by underrepresented composers. It has been 15 years since Yannick signed his contract, and he has already left an inedible mark on the Orchestra and on Philadelphia.

Witness to History is an oral history series in celebration of The Philadelphia Orchestra’s 125th anniversary and the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Hear personal stories from the artists, leaders, and community members who helped to shape the ensemble’s legacy and paved the way for a bold future.
