This release is the second and final part of Yannick Nézet-Séguin and The Philadelphia Orchestra’s survey of Rachmaninoff’s symphonic works. Nézet-Séguin conducts his “Fabulous Philadelphians” in the Second and Third symphonies and the symphonic poem Isle of the Dead. Like the first instalment of 2021—an acclaimed recording of the Symphony No. 1 and the Symphonic Dances—and their work with pianist Daniil Trifonov, this album continues to build on the Orchestra’s incomparable Rachmaninoff legacy.
