The Philadelphia Orchestra and Yannick Nézet-Séguin appear on Daniil Trifonov’s latest album, My American Story—North, in George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F and the world premiere recording of Mason Bates’s Piano Concerto, written for Trifonov and co-commissioned by the Orchestra. The full album sees Daniil Trifonov embark on a pianistic journey across the Americas. The first of two volumes presents music for solo piano or piano and orchestra from the United States, ranging from jazz and swing to Modernism, Minimalism, and popular soundtracks.
