Sibelius Violin Concerto

This program brings together bold contemporary sounds and 20th-century classics. John Adams’s The Rock You Stand On, written as a gift for Marin Alsop, opens the concert, followed by Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, performed by the young violinist Himari. Selections from Prokofiev’s ballet Romeo and Juliet conclude the evening with vivid drama and sweeping orchestral color.
