The Stories

Yannick and Mahler

Yannick and the Orchestra continue their exploration of Mahler’s iconic symphonies, including his eclectic First, radiant Third, triumphant Fifth, and captivating Seventh.

World Premieres

Yannick leads the premiere of Symphonic Rituals from MASS, a new arrangement of Leonard Bernstein’s powerful masterpiece. He also conducts world premieres of Reena Esmail’s Concerto for Orchestra and Valerie Colman’s new orchestration of Florence Price’s charming solo piano piece “Rainbow Waltz.” Composer-in-Residence Joe Hisaishi returns for the world premiere of his Piano Concerto, featuring Alice Sara Ott in her Orchestra debut.

An Innovative Orchestra Party

The Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor Marin Alsop present the world premiere of a groundbreaking multidisciplinary operatic event that fuses live orchestral performance with stop-motion animation. Visionary visual artist Alex Da Corte and genre-defying composer Austin Fisher’s The Party reimagines Marisol Escobar’s iconic 1960s sculptural installation through a cinematic lens.

A Powerful Concert Opera

Richard Wagner’s soaring Lohengrin marks the next chapter in Yannick’s concert-opera exploration of the composer’s masterpieces. The opera’s themes of faith, mystery, and the search for redemption promise a compelling continuation of this artistic journey and a riveting follow-up to the Orchestra’s acclaimed 2025 Tristan and Isolde performances the Washington Post called “one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard.”

The World’s Greatest Pianists

The world’s greatest stars and brightest talents take center stage throughout the season, headlined by superstar pianists Yuja Wang, Yunchan Lim, Seong-Jin Cho, and Artist of Distinction Emanuel Ax, and featuring many more.

Music Education for a Lifetime

Music education has always been central to The Philadelphia Orchestra’s mission, inspiring curiosity, creativity, and connection across generations. Through performances, in-school programs, and community partnerships, Orchestra musicians share the transformative power of music far beyond the concert hall.
