2025 China Residency, October 9–10: Qingdao

October 11, 2025

A group of 10 Philadelphia Orchestra musicians and a handful of staff members embarked on the 2025 China Residency on October 6, flying from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York to Incheon International Airport in Seoul, Korea. After a brief layover, they caught a flight to Qingdao, China, arriving at 8:40 AM on October 8. Everyone had a free day on October 9, to catch a few sights and recover from the long journey. The Residency is part of the Orchestra’s yearlong 125th anniversary celebration and also marks over 50 years of people-to-people connection through music in China.
