Oct. 18, Hangzhou: The tour party returned to Hangzhou for the final day of the residency, a rehearsal and side-by-side concert with the Zhejiang Provincial Symphony Orchestra at the Hangzhou Grand Canal Theatre.

Oct. 18, Hangzhou: Soprano Yu Xianyao and baritone Liu Tao join the combined ensemble to rehearse Mason Bates’s “Spring River Flowers by Moonlight,” which was given its world premiere by the Orchestra in Beijing on its 2024 Tour of China. The evening’s concert is part of the Liangzhu Forum and the video the musicians filmed at the Archeological Ruins of Liangzhu City on October 14 can be seen on the monitors.

Oct. 18, Hangzhou: The Hangzhou Grand Canal Theatre complex is within Canal Central Park and has two halls: a 1,200-seat Opera Hall and a 300-seat multi-functional hall. The architectural form is inspired by cultural traditions and its immediate surroundings—reminiscent of the strokes of an ink painting, as well as the ripples caused by meandering, flowing water. The building’s facade presents a traditional architectural window pattern in a modern reinterpretation.
