Nov. 9, Haikou: The Orchestra musicians were joined by Hainan University teachers and students for the final piece on the concert, Wu Zuqiang and Du Mingxin’s “The Wanquan River.” The song was featured in China’s first original ballet production, "Red Detachment of Women," which was premiered in Beijing by the National Ballet of China in 1964. It’s perhaps best known in the West as the ballet performed for President Richard Nixon during his visit to China in 1972.
