Victoria Knudtson joins The Philadelphia Orchestra as assistant principal/utility horn in the 2025–26 season. Originally from Minnesota and raised in Iowa, she earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University studying with Jeffery Nelsen and later completed an Artist Diploma at the Curtis Institute of Music under Jennifer Montone and Jeffrey Lang. She’s excited to be returning to Philadelphia after performing with the St. Louis Symphony since 2020.
In addition to orchestra playing, Ms. Knudtson loves making music with friends through chamber music, new works, free improvisation, or bringing classical sounds off the big stage and into more intimate, laid-back spaces. In her free time, you’ll find her dancing to the Latin rhythms of salsa, bachata, and Brazilian zouk.
